Branton has started "talking" this past week. He started out by just moving his mouth but thinking he was talking. Now he actually "talks" but continues to move his mouth in the same way. Grandpa Oakley took the first video last Saturday. The second video is from yesterday. For the second video, just turn your head (or screen) sideways... Mommy didn't realize you couldn't turn the video camera like you can for pictures. :)

Branton had his six month appointment on Monday. Our big boy isn't as big as we thought. He is 25 inches long (9th percentile) and 15 lbs 10 (24th percentile) ounces. He is doing a lot of big boy things now though. He sits for long periods (several minutes instead of seconds). He rolls over both ways (and has for quite some time). He plays with toys and rolls to get to them. He eats cereal every night before bed. He has not eaten much babyfood because he doesn't really care whether or not he has it; he actually has only had peas and potatoes. He just recently started eating Baby Mum-Mum crackers. He holds his own bottle (and has for nearly a month). His favorite activities are still jumping in his jumperoo and playing with Brennan! He has taken a few backwards scoots but has only made one scoot forward so far. He also now enjoys talking (be sure to watch the video soon).

Branton has been sitting on his own for a few weeks now. The first time he sat alone for any length of time (around 20 seconds) was February 3. Since then he has been becoming more steady all the time. He still loses his balance regulary when he looks around but is making great progress. We tried to take some pictures when he first started sitting but my hand ended up being behind him in all the pictures because by the time we got the camera to go, he would start falling. I decided I would post a picture from that night anyway, even though he isn't sitting on his own in it. :)

Rolling Over

Branton has learned to roll from his stomach to his back. He did it for the first time on New Year's Day (twice) and has done it more since then. He does not immediately roll over when you lay him on his tummy, but he is getting the hang of it. Hopefully, we will get video of it at some point.

Branton turned 4 months old on December 29. The time has flown by. At his doctor's appointment, he was 24.5 inches long and 13 lbs 9 oz. He is an incredibly happy little boy who likes to play on the rainforest mat, swing, sit in the bouncy seat, sit in the bumbo, sit in his highchair (to eat rice cereal before bed and to join us for dinner), and sit in the jumperoo (just recently). He loves being tickled and played with by Daddy, Mommy, Brennan, and anyone else who will play; he is quick to smile and laugh. We love our baby boy!

Branton's first time in Bible class

On Wednesday, December 9, Branton went to Bible class for the first time at Northside. He sat at the table (propped up with a pillow and blanket) to be with the other kids. Rachel was excited to get to sit by him. He will continue going to class on Wednesday nights but will not yet go to class on Sundays in Emporia.

Eating Rice Cereal

Branton ate rice cereal for the first time on Friday, December 4. He was not interested in eating at all. He just wanted to smile at Mommy and Daddy and enjoy being the center of attention. :) Since then, he has gotten much better at actually eating it.

Branton celebrated his first Halloween as a bear. He went to Great Granny and Grandpa Roy's, watched Brennan trunk or treat, slept in Grandad's arms, and slept in the swing.

2 month appointment

Branton had his two month doctor's appointment yesterday. He is a healthy baby boy who is 22 inches long (25%) and weighs 10 lbs 13 oz (40%). The last two nights he has slept even better than the last time I posted... 9.5 hours and 7.5 hours. I sure hope this continues!

Branton is two months old today. He is a very happy baby that is sleeping well (around 6-7 hours a night). He enjoys smiling at us, watching Brennan play, laying on his playmat, swinging, and sitting in his bouncy seat. He is adorable.

Branton turned 6 weeks old on Friday, so I think it is time for an update. He is a very happy baby. He loves sitting in his swing, being held, laying in the chair, and occasionally laying on the playmat. He looks around when he hears Daddy, Mommy, or Brennan. He also enjoys looking at lights. He has become a much better sleeper in the last two weeks. He sleeps between 5 1/2 and 8 hours every night now before waking up to eat, and then he goes back to sleep for several hours after eating. We love him so much! The time has really been flying by, and I realized that I never posted some pictures that we had taken in September...

We will get to meet Branton Cade tomorrow! Mommy and Daddy will arrive at the hospital at 9:00 tomorrow morning, and the c-section is supposed to take place in the late morning or early afternoon. We are very excited!

38 weeks pregnant

14 days and counting...

Branton Cade will be here in two weeks from today if he doesn't decide to come on his own before then. Today we had a doctor's appointment, and Branton's heartrate was 147 bpm. My belly was measuring 33-34 weeks, so my doctor wanted to do a sonogram to check and make sure he was growing fine. She also wanted to do a biophysical profile because I have felt decreased movement. Our appointment was over at about 1:00, but we couldn't have the sonogram or BPP until 4:00. We are happy to know now that everything is great. He scored 8/8 on the BPP and is growing great (about 2.5 weeks big). He was measuring at 8 lbs 2 oz today. They said to keep in mind that the sonogram can be off in size by a pound but the reading assured that he is growing great. Another good thing about having the sonogram is that we have more pictures of our precious son!

The doctor's office called me back today and the protein test came back showing that I do not have preeclampsia. I am very happy to know that... now I just need this headache to go away.

Branton and Mommy had another doctor's appointment today. Branton's heartrate is great at 140 bpm. Mommy's stomach is measuring at about 35 weeks which really makes us wonder how big he will be. The sonogram at 32 weeks showed Branton measuring 3 weeks big, but my stomach has measured a week small to right on schedule the past month. I wonder if the size of my belly or the sonogram is a better prediction of his size. I am currently dilated to 1 and 50% effaced. I have been having a bad headache, so the doctor has wanted to check for protein in my urine (in case the headache is caused by preeclampsia like with Brennan). A week ago when I did the test, the protein levels were elevated but not bad. They are supposed to let me know the results from this test sometime tomorrow. If everything goes according to the current plan, we will meet Branton in 3 weeks from today.

Branton's heartrate was 142 bpm today and Mommy's tummy is measuring right on schedule. The c-section has been scheduled for one month from today. We sure are looking forward to meeting Branton Cade! Here is picture of how huge Mommy is getting. :)

34 Weeks down... 5 weeks 1 day to go

My doctor is planning on the c-section being on September 3, so only 36 days until we meet Branton. Mommy and Daddy are very excited. Big brother Brennan doesn't have any idea that he should be excited (or concerned). :) We do think that Brennan does know that things are changing though. He has been much more clingy recently, thinking that Mommy should hold him all the time. He also sometimes pats my belly. We tell him that baby Branton is in there, but he is very young to understand.
Just wanted to let everyone know that everything seems to be going great. This is the point in pregnancy when we started having some complications with Brennan and have not experienced any problems! I have another doctor's appointment on Monday, so I will update again after that.

32 Weeks 5 Days

Mommy had a doctor's appointment today. Branton had a heartrate of 143 bpm. With Branton measuring 3 weeks ahead in the sonogram last week, we expected Mommy's belly to measure big. However, it is measuring about a week smaller than the due date. The doctor said that everything looks good and to keep in mind that the sonogram can be off up to a pound; she said she thought he was going to be a pretty big baby though. The c-section is being scheduled for September 3, so only 45 days until we get to meet Branton!

31 Weeks 6 Days

I went to the doctor today and they did a sonogram to make sure everything was going well. Everything is looking great. However, Branton is measuring huge! From the sonogram, he is measuring 3 weeks big. It showed him at 5 pounds 7 ounces already. Makes me glad that I will be having a c-section. :) Here are some current pictures.

Branton is getting so much bigger. He is now 31 weeks and is about 3.3 pounds and just over 16 inches. Everything is going great so far. Only 57 days until the c-section!

Branton is now 30 weeks and 2 days. According to BabyCenter, he is just about 15.7 inches and about 3 pounds. Mommy had a doctor's appointment on Thursday. Mommy's belly was measuring on schedule, and Branton's heart rate was 140 bpm.

Branton is now 29 weeks. According to BabyCenter he is just over 15 inches and is 2 1/2 pounds. Mommy is definitely feeling how big he is getting. :)

28 Weeks 1 Day

Branton is now 28 weeks 1 day. Today at his doctor's appointment his heartrate was great, and Mommy's tummy was measuring right on schedule. According to BabyCenter, he is about 14.8 inches and 2 lbs 4 oz (the weight he was in the sonogram three weeks ago). Everything is looking good, and we are getting very excited about meeting him in around 2 1/2 months.

Baby Waves

Today we went to Baby Waves to have Branton's picture taken. He is 25 weeks 3 days and measured 26 weeks 6 days. He is about 2 pounds 4 ounces. His heart rate was 146 bpm. We had a great time seeing him. Daddy, Mommy, Brennan, Grandma, GGma, and Granny were all able to attend. Gran, Grandad, Grandpa, and anyone else that wants to will get to see the lovely pictures and video of the sonogram. Seeing a baby is such an awesome thing. We look forward to seeing him again in about 3 months!

25 Weeks

Branton Cade is now 25 weeks. According to Baby Center, he is about 13 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 pounds. If you look at Mommy right now, you would think he is even bigger than that. :)

23 Weeks 5 Days

Mommy had another doctor's appointment today. Branton is doing great. He is 23 weeks and 5 days. His heart rate was 140 bpm. The average size for a baby his age is about 12 inches and about 1 pound.

Middle Name

Branton now has a middle name! His name will be Branton Cade. It is a name that Mommy and Daddy both love. We are anxious for him to get here (but want him to stay in Mommy for about 4 more months.) We are just over half-way.

21 weeks

Just a quick note to say that Branton is 21 weeks now. Everything is going great and Mommy feels him move around all the time. Daddy has felt him move a few times. It is so exciting! According to BabyCenter.com, Branton is about 10 1/2 inches long and 3/4 of a pound.

19 week appointment

We went for Branton's 19 week appointment yesterday. His heart rate was 142 bpm which is much slower than the first time we heard it (172 bpm). According to Baby Center, he is about 8.5 ounces (the sonogram showed 9 ounces last week) and 6 inches long (head to bottom).

We found out yesterday that we will be having a baby boy! His name is Branton, and he is currently 18 weeks. Big Brother Brennan was able to go with Mommy and Daddy for the sonogram. We are all very excited!
